About The Conference:  
The National Dance Society is pleased to announce that its 6th Annual Dance Conference will be held at the beautiful, state-of-the-art dance facility at the Sammons Center for the Arts, Dallas Tx, June 24 - 27, 2020.  This four-day conference will offer a variety of workshop, lecture, and research sessions as well as lunchtime informal performances by students, and professional dancers.   An outstanding invited dance performance company will be spotlighted on Thursday evening.  and, you do not want to miss the dinner and awards event on Friday evening.

Conference Purpose:  To engage individuals in a diverse and holistic approach to dance in the 21st century

Conference Objectives: 
  •  Build a capacity for improved dance education programs within a variety of school and community settings: fine arts, physical education, after-school, private sectors, and recreation programs, health and wellness facilities, assisted living facilities for the elderly.   
  • Promote use of the national/state dance education standards, along with the existing health and physical education standards, to design quality school curriculum. 
  • Promote the values of dance in establishing healthy living behaviors, preventing and controlling disease and disability, reducing the impact of certain diseases and disabilities on individuals, and promoting safe dancing habits. 
  • Promote the physical, social, and emotional health and the well-being of youth through dance programs in the schools and communities.
  • Acknowledge the dance field as a partner in improving the learning processes and promoting academic success.
  • Support scholarship and research regarding connections between dance and healthful living.
