Katie van den Heuvel
Katie van den Heuvel attended the University of Maryland Baltimore School of Medicine, graduating as a Doctor of Physical Therapy in May 2014. She earned her first degree in Dance Education from Old Dominion University in 2003. She has taught ballet, modern, creative dance and tap in private studios and public schools in Maryland and Virginia. Katie performed with the National Ballet Company of Maryland, Gravity Optional Dance Company, Old Dominion University Dance Theater, the ODU Ballet, and the Tidewater Dance Collective.
Katie served as Chair of Dance Performance for the Virginia Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (VAHPERD) from 2006 to 2009, and received the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Excellence in Service Award in August 2013 for her work as the Core Ambassador between Maryland physical therapy students and the APTA Student Assembly Board of Directors from 2011-2013.
