Meet The Session Presenters
BJ Santos received a BS from the University of Virginia (Health and Physical Education) and an MS from James Madison University (Kinesiology). An avid dance student, she has incorporated dance into her physical education classes at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Before her retirement on July 1, 2020 she taught at Albemarle County Lab Schools; Murray High School and the Community Public Charter School. Her high school students have learned aerial arts, traditional dance forms, some not so traditional dance forms and student-generated dance. She is a founding member of the National Dance Society and contributed to the standards for that organization. She received the P-12 Master Dance Educator of the Year in Physical Education (2018, NDS), the SHAPE Southern District K-12 Dance Educator of the Year (2017) and
VAHPERD Dance Educator of the Year K-12 (2016).
